IF THIS CASTING ON PROCESS IS TOO CONFUSING FOR YOU BE SURE TO POST SO HERE AND I CAN PROVIDE AN ALTERNATE CASTING ON PROCESS THAT IS MUCH SIMPLER, BUT I WANTED TO ATTEMPT TO TEACH YOU THE "CORRECT" WAY THAT MY GRANDMA MADE ME LEARN...... :) Right, Gramma!?! :)

Yes Kristy, and you did a very good job of teaching it. I am sitting her knitting Eric's sleeves, both at once, and watching your progress. So far really good work. I will keep watching till you stop for tonight.
Love you,
Gramma
Well, I'm completely confused. But please don't think it's anything you did or did not say. I have always had comprehension problems. My mom has also decided to try and there's a good chance that she understands what you're saying. She has crocheted for years. Not that it's the same thing, but she understands instructions better than I....
Love,
Julie
Julie, try this.... get your slip knot made, put it on the needle just as is shown below, then instead of doing a "stitching" cast on, try doing this. Wrap the yarn around your right thumb, then slide the left needle along side your thumb to "cast on" a stitch. Let me know if that works for you......
